In 2009 the world changed, our world changed. Her world began, the world was blessed with one of the most beautiful souls. A little girl that was born with less than others physically, but more than others in so many immeasurable ways. If you know her, you love her. Zephie is by far the most driven and motivated individual I know. She will not let anyone or anything say she “can’t” do something. She has beat all odds laid out in front of her, and we have no doubt she’ll continue that path.
The reason for starting this blog was to reach out and inspire as much of the world as possible with this miracle child we have been blessed with! To tell her story, and how it relates to all of us in our own daily life. Her story is unique and stretches far from typical. We know that the little triumphs she conquers empower everyone she interacts with. Our wish for this blog is to stretch that empowerment farther than those she meets. We don’t see ourselves as an extraordinary family. We do know though that anyone is capable of achieving the extraordinary. We hope that by reading her little triumphs you can be inspired in your own daily life to overcome things even when they seem far from your reach!
Zephiya was born in 2009 with an extremely rare chromosome abnormality. A deletion of base pairs 14q24.2->14q31.1 on chromosome 14. The geneticist gave us one article when her chromosome deletion was confirmed. There is not a specified name with this deletion due to its rareity. This is the only study on this deletion in the entire world! There are only 15 other individuals documented in the article to have a variation of this deletion. We were told, we are 100,000 times more likely to win the lottery or be struck by lightening than to conceive a child with this specific deletion. To say she is unique or special or even an astonishing statistic is an understatement. She was born a determined soul; to love, to teach, to inspire, to befriend, to discover, to empathize, to reach all potential regardless of her circumstances. It is clear that to her it makes no difference, it is who she was meant to be. She completely amazes us on a daily basis. She has a huge village of love and support! We want to share her journey from day one to inspire you, and encourage you to be the very best you can be regardless of any limitations! My husband and I are convinced she was born to teach the world many things.
